Become a Tutor

ALTA is recruiting new volunteer tutors!

Learn how you can help literacy students reach their reading and spelling goals with ALTA-V.

Thank you for your interest in becoming an ALTA Tutor. We are recruiting volunteers to teach virtually. As an ALTA tutor you will provide literacy instruction alongside a co-tutor for a group of 6-10 students aged 16 and up.

Education has failed to meet the needs of our adult students at least once already. They have been brave enough to try again in the face of past failure and the distress this brings.

You can help us provide the only comprehensive, structured, adult literacy programme in Trinidad and Tobago.

Criteria

  • CXC English I/II or Grade 1 or 2 CSEC, General proficiency in English
  • Comfortable using Zoom
  • Can attend 8 training sessions in July 2022 (2 days a week, 2 hours each day)
  • Can commit to teaching an ALTA Virtual Class twice a week, from Sept 2022– July 2023

Do you enjoy inspiring and motivating others?

Do you enjoy giving back to your community?

Do you have patience, dedication and time to commit?

What are you waiting for?
